Papa a raison
The father-provider figure in 1950’s Quebec certainly has little in common with today’s young dad who shops for groceries with a baby strapped on his back. How was this transformation, this mutation, experienced by Quebec’s men? The documentary series Papa a raison (Father Knows Best) consists of three one-hour episodes that tell the story of how male roles have evolved in Quebec from the end of the Second World War to today. First-hand accounts and archive materials are the backbone of the series, supported by interviews with experts (historians, sociologists, psychologists, sexologists, philosophers, etc.) to shed some light on the typical lifestyle and values of Quebec men across the decades.
